Legacies come in all sizes. The Bunzl Family’s substantial gift to JF&CS and Federation is magnificent but rare. In truth, it does not require a fortune to leave a meaningful legacy. At Atlanta Jewish Foundation we delight in helping our fundholders define and scale after-lifetime commitments with the potential to sustain our community for years to come.
It begins with a conversation. The better we know you, the better we can help you shape a gift that reflects your passions and priorities. For those who wish to make Jewish giving their focus, we have introduced many of our clients to two unique legacy giving initiatives:
- The Jewish Future Pledge. The Jewish Future Pledge, which was spearheaded by Atlanta’s own Mike Leven, and is chaired by Federation immediate past president, Mark Silberman, calls on all Jews to sign a pledge that commits half or more of the charitable giving in their estate plan to support the Jewish people and/or the State of Israel. Whether it is for $10 or $10 million, every pledge contributes to securing a Jewish future for all. Atlanta Jewish Foundation is committed to educating Jewish Atlanta about the importance of the Pledge, encouraging individuals to sign and share it with their family and friends.
Atlanta Jewish Foundation and Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta are excited to announce that a milestone 200 Atlanta pledges have been secured for the Jewish Future Pledge, to grow a culture of legacy giving. This support has made Atlanta one of the premiere cities in the U.S. for the Jewish Future Pledge.
- Another national initiative, LIFE & LEGACY™, has also had enormous success in Atlanta. LIFE & LEGACY, an initiative of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, has been working with Jewish organizations in Atlanta since 2018 to promote after-lifetime giving. LIFE & LEGACY provides training, support, and monetary incentives to empower organizations to secure meaningful after-lifetime legacy gifts. This program creates a strong partnership between the Atlanta Jewish Foundation and our local Jewish community agencies, synagogues, and day schools.
“With the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history currently underway, Atlanta Jewish Foundation is proud to steward gifts through the Jewish Future Pledge and LIFE & LEGACY. Our leadership is extremely pleased with the success that we have experienced in Atlanta so far. We are thrilled to support members of our community in this opportunity to solidify their legacies and spark family conversations regarding why the Jewish future matters,” said Beth Paradies, Chair of the advisory committee of Atlanta Jewish Foundation.
According to the Center on Wealth and Philanthropy at Boston College, $6.3 trillion could be allocated to charity over the next 55 years. Legacy giving has the potential to direct hundreds of billions of dollars toward Jewish and Israel-related causes.”
“We want everyone to know that whether you have $500 to give or $5 million, everyone has a part to play in securing the Jewish future,” said Mark Silberman, Chairman of the Jewish Future Pledge and Jewish Federations of North America National Board Member. Atlanta Jewish Foundation is a resource to help families explore and discuss the critical Jewish values around philanthropy.
